At a Glance
The Open Mindset Project is a nonprofit organization that prepares college students and recent graduates — especially first-gen and underrepresented learners — for careers that cross cultures and industries. Our hybrid model blends a four-part online course in global competency with personalized, one-on-one virtual mentorship from professionals who’ve worked across cultures, companies and continents. Students and recent grads gain real-world skills, confidence and global perspective while creating a personal brand that stands out to employers.

Program Overview
The Open Mindset Project combines interactive online learning with one-on-one mentoring from accomplished global professionals. Through four structured 90-minute learning modules and personal mentor engagement, participants develop global awareness, cultural agility, communication skills, and the ability to think beyond borders and navigate complexity.
Our hybrid model combines
Four self-paced online learning modules designed to develop globally relevant competencies
Four virtual mentoring sessions over one semester (for students)
Two virtual mentoring sessions (for early-career professionals)
Upon completion, participants earn a credential that demonstrates their growth and readiness to contribute in diverse, fast-moving professional environments.

Students and Young Professionals
Next-generation talent gains personalized global insight, confidence, professional connections and a mindset shift that traditional courses cannot provide. Participants complete the program with career-ready global competencies and a credential that differentiates them in today’s fast-paced, borderless workplace.
Mentors
Our 125+ Global Gurus are accomplished professionals that span continents, industries and cultural perspectives. They include executives, diplomats, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, artists and leaders across more than 75 fields, all who volunteer to mentor emerging global thinkers. They seek to share their experience, shape future global leaders and engage in purposeful, meaningful mentorship. The structured model makes participation efficient and rewarding.
Universities and Colleges
We provide a scalable, high-impact way for higher education institutions to strengthen global learning outcomes and deliver competencies that employers prioritize but campuses struggle to teach. Our program complements career services, internationalization strategies, first-year experience programs, study-abroad alternatives and global curriculum initiatives.
Member Organizations
Our program enhances onboarding and training by building soft skills that are difficult to develop internally. Through international mentors, global career insight and a globally open mindset, we strengthen both individual growth and organizational capability.

Program Impact
Results from a 2025 post-program survey of participants across six university partners found:
- 97% gained a deeper understanding of the global mindset, how it’s relevant to their future success and how to continue developing it.
- 93% strengthened their understanding of workplace-ready soft skills needed to succeed in global and multicultural workplaces.
- 97% felt confident applying global competencies to their academic and professional careers.
- 100% would recommend the Open Mindset Project to others.
